There is a controversy as regards whether it causes cancer.. Best way for diabetics is to get used to food items without taste of sugar or sweetness. It is a matter of developing habit. If you start drinking tea without sugar slowly in a week or so you will start liking it!
As our research proves, saccharin also causes insulin secretion so we don't allow tea with saccharin in between two meals. There are other artificial sweeteners like aspartame, monellin and cyclomate. These are used in cold drinks, fruit juices and canned food items.
